Charlie Buhler Interview: Breaking Boundaries in Filmmaking

Director Charlie Buhler discusses how she is breaking boundaries and championing representation in a recent interview with Madame Blue.

Madame Blue’s Kennedy Smith sat down with director/photographer Charlie Buhler to discuss her position as a filmmaker – specifically as a young woman of color – within a predominantly white industry. In her interview, Charlie describes what is was like growing up in rural South Dakota, and how she’s been able to shatter boundaries with the release of her first feature film “Before the Fire” (which appropriately takes place during a global pandemic, by the way).
